I have flown internationally three times since the start of this pandemic. The first time was coming home from my gap year in France. The second time was to go to Scotland to start my university career at St Andrews, and the third was to come home for Christmas.

These hand sanitizer, mask, water vending machines are in pretty much every airport to which I've been so far.

Going into the Lyon airport June 2020. It was basically EMPTY.
Edinburgh to Dublin, November 2020

Most planes are boarded from the back to front, and when disembarking people are asked to wait to get up til the people in front have left. This for the most part is handled well. And for the most part social distancing is maintained.

Domestic flights have been a lot more full than international flights (which is good). Of the two pictures below, the first one is my flight from Houston, TX to Newark, and the second flight is my flight from Amsterdam to Atlanta. As you can see, there are remarkably fewer people on the Amsterdam to Atlanta flight!

As of recently, a lot of places require a negative COVID test upon arrival as well as quarantining for some amount of time upon arrival. In some countries, you have to go to a hotel for your quarantine.

Sometimes I’ve had to fill out a COVID form so that I could be contacted if someone on the flight got COVID.

(June 2020)

On my way to St Andrews in August, I had to fill out a form in German. I don’t know German (yet). After using Google Translate to kind of understand the form, I asked a flight attendant if I had to fill it out in German to which they responded that they didn’t think so. I filled it out in English. Later on, I found out that there had been a form in English, so I guess they had thought that I knew German. No complaints from me cause I got to learn some German!

On each international flight I have taken, I have gotten a whole row to myself! That has been nice. 🙂

In my travels during this pandemic, I have done my best to maintain distance from those around me and have quarantined/taken a COVID test. I am really grateful that even in this crazy year, I have been to travel a little bit.
